Ely Place Chambers in Kuala Lumpur

Nicholas Stewart QC is in Kuala Lumpur this week, where he has been invited to moderate a session on the Rule of Law at the International Malaysia Law Conference 2018.

IMLC 2018 is a 4 day conference organised by the Malaysian Bar Council.   Nick’s session on Thursday 16 August is sponsored by the Union Internationale des Avocats (UIA) and focuses on Access to Justice: A Critical Component of the Rule of Law, including speakers from Malaysia and India. The programme will look at comparative aspects of a serious and usually growing problem affecting legal jurisdictions in Asia, Europe and all other continents.

Nick is a former President of the UIA, which was founded in 1927 and is the oldest international lawyers’ organisation in the world.

The programme for IMLC 2018 also includes sessions on sports law where Nick is going to be an active participant.  He  is an arbitrator at the Court of Arbitration for Sport and is on the World Rugby Anti-Doping Judicial Panel, as well as being a long-standing member of the Football Association Appeal Board Chairman Panel and the Sport Resolutions Panel of Arbitrators and Mediators.
