High Court issues arrest warrant against Pavel Karpov

James Newman who was instructed by Hermitage Capital Management (UK) Limited has successfully obtained an arrest warrant against Pavel Karpov following Mr Karpov’s failure to attend the High Court to be cross-examined about his assets.  Hermitage are owed over £650,000 in legal costs following their successful defence of the libel claim brought against it by Mr Karpov.  Mr Karpov was suing Bill Browder and his UK-based fund Hermitage for saying that he was complicit in the “torture and murder” of anti-corruption whistle blower Sergei Magnitsky on a website, Russian Untouchables, and in TV interviews.  The claim was struck out on the grounds that it was an abuse of process.
