Michael Patchett-Joyce joins Chambers

Ely Place Chambers has recruited Michael Patchett-Joyce to swell their Business Law team.  An experienced barrister, arbitrator and mediator, Michael will play a pivotal role in spearheading the development of Ely Place’s legal services practice in the UAE and the Gulf.  Michael will develop his existing litigation practice – which sees him instructed on DIFC, ADGM and other international court matters – and continue to build his international arbitration practice.

Over the past decade, Michael has established himself as a legal practitioner across the Gulf, handling a range of civil and commercial matters.  He also has specialist knowledge of indirect taxation (VAT), which fits in with the region’s broader move to economic diversification and inter-jurisdictional co-operation on commercial law initiatives.

Michael is Vice-Chair of the Bar Council International Committee, with particular responsibility for the Gulf and wider MENA regions.  He sits on the Scientific Board of the MENA Business Law Review.
