Mini-Pupillages at Ely Place for Supreme Court winners.
Ely Place is partnering with Big Voice London, a legal education and social mobility project, to offer mini-pupillages to the two 16 -18 year olds who reached the Supreme Court final of Big Voice’s annual mooting competition on 27 February 2018. Bimpe Adepko and Darvy Cana battled 32 competitors over four rounds to reach the final, which was judged by Lord Kerr. Both are sixth-formers studying in London.
Big Voice London works to empower 16-18 year olds from disadvantaged backgrounds through legal knowledge and by promoting access to legal careers. It is supported by a range of organisations, including the Supreme Court, Lexis Nexis and the Law Commission. Barristers at Ely Place have supported Big Voice this year in providing talks and question and answer sessions on privacy law for its Law Reform Project and judging the earlier rounds of this mooting competition.
Victoria Anderson, CEO of Big Voice London, said “Seeing the law in action will be a hugely valuable experience. Our thanks go to Ely Place for offering this opportunity.”
Bimpe and Darvy will be coming to Ely Place over the summer.
