Third Six Pupillage Vacancy
Ely Place is a busy, established and thriving Chambers with a forward thinking approach. We specialise in business, property, employment, media and public law. Our members have appeared in some of the leading Supreme Court and Privy Council decisions in recent years, in the Middle East, Trinidad and Tobago. We are now looking to recruit a third six pupil to begin in autumn 2019.
We are looking for candidates with excellent intellectual and academic ability, who have the potential to become outstanding advocates, who can demonstrate the interpersonal skills essential for working with solicitors and lay clients and who have the drive and determination to succeed. A clear commitment to developing a practice in at least two of our specialist areas is essential.
We recruit third six pupils with a view to tenancy and applications are made towards the end of the six months. Our four most recent third six pupils have all been offered (and accepted) tenancy. During your third six you will regularly attend Court and also build your paperwork practice. You will have a number of opportunities to work with more senior members of Chambers. Our recent third six pupils have also been involved in public inquiries such as the Grenfell Tower Inquiry and the Undercover Policing Inquiry.
To apply, please send a copy of your CV and a cover letter, demonstrating how you meet our selection criteria (available here), together with the details for a minimum of two references, at least one of which should be from a recent pupil supervisor, to firstname.lastname@example.org. Your cover letter should set out the areas you wish to specialise in and why. Applications are considered on a rolling basis; please apply no later than 1 August 2019. If you require reasonable adjustments, please let us know.
